Witness the Birth of a Friendship…Through Cyber Space!

Bradley Nordstrom

Philip Omulando
Dream Sponsors, Inc. has selected two youth to publicly share the building of a friendship by using technology.  Bradley Nordstrom (www.bradleyiscool.com) who lives in Wellington, Florida, USA and Philip Omulando, Bunyore, Kenya, will use text messaging on cell phones to share details of their daily lives.  They will also learn about cultural differences & similarities and issues affecting their generation, across continents.  The frequent posts will be placed on Dream Sponsors Twitter and all are welcome to “tune in” to witness the birth and growth of a friendship across the miles.   Cell phone use is very popular in the USA as well as throughout Kenya, despite the rural nature of the Western Region of Kenya in which Philip resides and attends school.  There are NO cell phones permitted in the Kenyan schools and this rule is regarded quite seriously.  In fact our project volunteers in Bunyore will only permit cell phone usage during weekends, so that Philip is not distracted from a very important upcoming exam.  His performance on this exam will determine what quality school he may be accepted into for Form 1. The higher his score, the better chance he will have of attending a high quality school, enhancing his future.  Philip has been studying very hard, using his paraffin lamp at night, as there is no electricity in his village hut.  Bradley is also working extremely hard in school and is extremely bright, with advanced knowledge and experience with computers and technology. The Florida schools are also preparing for term exams.  Best wishes to both these young men as they study hard and as they start this journey of friendship together!!!
