Giving New Meaning to Life….After Loss!
Marta Knight and her family sponsor Sheila. Sponsorship has special meaning to this family after the tragic loss of their own son in 2002. “I believe the only way to get through grief is to focus on doing for others.” Giving back to someone else in need takes on a special purpose and gives new meaning to the loss of a loved one. And, Sheila says, “I am very much grateful of the ways you wiped my tears and put a smiling face on my face”!
Sponsorship is The Gift That Keeps on Giving…and Gives Back!
Just ask one of our sponsors who have generously donated fees to change the life of an orphan child. According to Jane and George Bell, “It is rewarding to know that we can make a difference in this world…one child at a time!” The couple sponsors Peter, who has expressed his gratitude for the ongoing support. Peter lost his mother, brother & father within 3 years of each other. He shares, “At first I was blaming and questioning God to have taken my dear parents, with so much grief in my heart. Until He brought you people into my life…you have brought me back the joy & parental love that I have missed for so long”!
Ruth Long (left) and her daughter Natalie Debich (right) have made sponsorship a family affair! Both were inspired by hearing the dreams of two orphan girls which inspired their own lives and careers. Ruth chose Nancy after hearing that she wants to be a doctor, and she was delighted with her own medical doctor. Natalie and her husband John, both teachers in Pennsylvania, chose Diana after learning that she too, wants to teach.
The Masterson Family sponsors Ryan, who received life-saving open heart surgery in 2010, due to some of their additional fundraising efforts. Pictured (l to r) are Dr. James Masterson, daughters Carlie and Lexi and wife Carrie. Carlie dedicated her 18th birthday party to raise funds for Ryan’s heart cath. The family has made a total difference in this child’s life as well as the life of his brother Basil, who recently said,
“Thank you Dream Sponsors Team for giving me back my brother”!
Karen J. Hardin, President Elect, Wellington Rotary Club and long time supporter of Dream Sponsors, Inc., sponsors two orphan boys, both living in Nairobi Slums. Karen recently told us, “It has enriched my life knowing that my sponsoring Basil and Kevin for the past two years is life altering for them. It feels good to know I have made a difference in their lives and in the world. When Kevin and Basil send me pictures and thank yous it is the icing on the cake…so to speak”!
Members of the Palm Beach Central High School Interact Club sponsor the project’s very first orphan child, Elizabeth, who is now nearing her 4th year of sponsorship. 2011 Club President Deidre Krazanowski explains, “After seeing the impact that we have made in her life, we feel that we have a responsibility to keep bettering her life. But is is one that we are more than happy to fulfill. It’s reassurance for us that we can make a difference in the world, even if it’s a difference in one person’s life.” And Elizabeth had this to say, “If you only knew where you picked me and my lovely grandmother from, you would know how thankful we are….all we can say is thank you.”
On behalf of the Board of Directors, our Kenyan Advisory Committee, the orphans we serve, and their caretakers, we are sincerely grateful to all of our sponsors for their ongoing support and generosity! They are making a difference in orphan lives, and…
