Wellington, FL — The Wellington Rotary Club and Village of Wellington recognized the United Nations World Peace Day, September 21, 2011 with a full-scale celebration at the community’s Peace Park. Over 250 people attended the event which included school chorus performances, color guard demonstrations, boy & girl scout troop recognition and more. Local Rotarians presented numerous awards to area youth for poster contests, poetry competitions, essay and photography contests and Student Mediator Awards. Our own organization’s founder and president, Carla B. Neumann, MS, LMFT, (pictured second left above), was presented the Wellington Rotary 2011 Community Peace Award for recognition for her dedication and service to World Peace, Conflict Resolution and Multicultural Understanding. The celebration culminated with the release of 12 Doves, from Eternal Doves of Florida. Joining Neumann at the Peace Pole, in the photo is her spouse Tom Neumann, far left, Chaplin Howard from Hospice, Daniela Gaitan, and Board Secretary, Lexy Sanguinetti.
