Giving Thanks for a Dream
Event a Huge Success... Raising Awareness, Funds and New
Sponsorships!!!!
Over 120 people attended Dream Sponsors’ sample of Kenyan culture,
hosted by Whole Foods Market in Wellington on November 7th ! The event
raised additional funds for the orphans and two new orphans were
sponsored by guests attending the event. Attendees enjoyed culinary
delights from the country, while sampling African wines and viewing
professional photography of the wildlife of the continent that were
offered for sale, raffle and silent auction. Guests danced to the music
of Positively Africa, which also featured Zom Zi, African dancers, who
were adorned in colorful African fabrics as they dazzled the crowd with
their fanciful footwork.
The evening culminated in the raffle of a week long stay at a log home
in the mountains of North Carolina donated by Dream Sponsors Board
Members Tom and Carla Neumann. The raffle raised over $4000 in support
of these orphans. Tickets were sold in 3 different states, and the
winner was Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Knight of Oil City, Pennsylvania, who
have generously supported the organization by sponsoring Sheila. Kaitlyn
Knight, their 17 year old daughter, has also coordinated youth
fundraisers in the small town in Western Pennsylvania.
Guests also had the opportunity to enter a special raffle by taking the
Malaria Challenge Quiz. Only one attendee answered all the questions
correctly winning a lovely raffle basket full of African style gifts.
Florida Sponsors were also recognized and given a Starfish Award,
representing the difference they have made in the life of an orphan.
Sponsors included Karen Hardin, Dr. and Mrs. Stuart Krost, The Builder’s
Club of St. Mark’s Catholic School, Palm Beach Central High School’s
Interact Club. |
